Inclusive theater: Fox Cities PAC uses the GalaPro app, allowing clarifications from any seat

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (PAC) uses an app that most theatergoers probably haven’t heard of yet.

When someone signs up for a PAC show, they usually get an alert about what PAC has to offer. Of valet parking to wheelchair accessible seats, the PAC provides a unique application that can apparently help people who have difficulty understanding English, or who cannot hear well, from any seat.

The PAC website states that visitors can use the GalaPro subtitling, enabling real-time help using voice recognition technology.

All you have to do is install the free app once from the App Store / Google Play to be able to access all it has to offer. After that just choose Fox Cities PAC and the show you want to see. Here is ! The whole installation.

Open captioning

The PAC has other special features to include spectators with different disabilities. The managers of the theater explain that there are selected shows that allow open captioning, a special aid that features a text display on the side of the stage that scrolls through the dialogue and lyrics of the performance as the show unfolds in real time.
